Victoria is so terribly romantic, can you blame me?
You’d think, since Vancouver is so much bigger than Victoria, that its digital infrastructure and culture would be much more advanced, more strongly networked, more robust, and more supportive.
You’d be wrong. What happens in Vancouver digital culture is the same thing that happens in Vancouver non-digital culture: groups split up and form into silos, each of which doesn’t understand the reason the others exist, and few of whom interact in a way which reinforces both groups.
Victoria is quite different. The Victoria WordCamp group is holding a Blogger Expo and have sent out a call for local bloggers to come and talk about their own blogs for five minutes apiece. You don’t have to be using WordPress (although, let’s face it, you should be) and all are welcome. It’s $5 at the door which is donated to charity.
