Right now, Sunrise Market at the corner of Gore and Powell on the Downtown EastSide has boxed salad greens priced at two for a dollar. They have both hearts of romaine and mesclun (baby mixed greens), and both are organic. As well, loose spinach, which finally looks pretty good now that the new local crop is in, is two healthy bunches for a dollar. They’ve also got cherry tomatoes on the vine which look very good, in net bags, two for a dollar; each bag is 0.75 lb.
There are regular tomatoes as well at 29 cents a pound, but those aren’t particularly good-looking, and definitely stay away from the temptingly-priced cucumbers at six for a dollar: they’re practically liquid and probably not something you want to put in your mouth.
