This is video of my talk on Social Media 101 at, yes, Social Media Camp Victoria, which was brilliantly organized by ideazone and BWestInteractive and I’m not just saying that because they were smart enough to invite me!
Although it counts, right?
So here is the video, taken by BChannelNews, and constitutes, as well as a great intro to Social Media, further proof I need to get back to the gym ASAP.

Fantastic talk, Rain! I wish you’d had more time. I would have asked you more about the up and downsides, but I think you answered that quite well throughout. ‘Toronto explosion’ was a a great anecdotal example of Twitter-speed v MSM. I’m also always leery of following too many people on Twitter (for fear I’ll miss too many tweets and/or won’t be able to keep up) & you’ve dispelled that myth. (I think) Note to self: Must get Tweet Deck. But really well done, you’re just as witty and charming in person.
My favorite quote: “The world is full of friends who don’t know you yet.” Brilliant! I got all warm and squishy for a minute, I mean more than usual. Can I steal it without you making me go “poof!”?

Yes, but ONLY if you give the link when you use it. As in “I got that from http://raincoastermedia.com“. Lots of people like it, and I can’t resist the whole world, even if it is awfully Oprah-ish and foofy.

I’m so bummed that I missed the social media camp! Lorraine gave a great presentation. :-)

I promise to always attribute it to you, in URL form. Even if it’s in conversation. :)
(I’m bummed too Robert, another reason I wish I lived in Canada.)

Thanks, guys! You know, they do have planes that come all the way to Victoria from NYC…I’m just sayin’.
