These are the five Buddhist spiritual precepts, explained and expanded upon by Diana Winston, from the excellent collection at DharmaSeed. These principles, as with much of Buddhist practice, can be used by anyone, Buddhist or not. These are paradigms that are universal: you can look at your life, analyze it according to these principles, and help yourself to find balance, even if you’re very dedicated to a religion other than Buddhism.
I almost feel guilty stealing these marvelous principles, but somehow I feel the Buddha would be okay with it anyway.
Note: the audio podcast is 45 minutes long, so either set your computer to download it overnight (if you’re on dialup) or go to an office with public computers and a high-speed connection and listen to it there with headphones. Anyone volunteering to make a transcript and post it in the wiki would be gratefully accepted, glorified in song and multimedia presentation, and heralded unto the stars, yea be they even Bill Gates and Steve Jobs.

Glad you liked it. I was trying to find your article on the same principles, to link to, but I couldn’t find it. Got a link?
