From social media mover and shaker Jeremy Lim comes news that this Saturday the St. Vincent de Paul society will be handing out hot dinners and warm clothing to the needy at Davie and Burrard in the West End of Vancouver. If you have spare winter clothing, lightly used or new, that you would like to donate, we encourage you to get in touch with them directly or through Jeremy’s contact page, linked below.
Here’s an excerpt from Jeremy’s blog post:
Several times each year, the St. Vincent de Paul Society serves a free dinner and distributes clothing to Vancouver’s homeless. This Saturday, January 23rd, the society is serving their first dinner of 2010 in front of the TD Bank at Davie and Burrard from 6:30PM-9:00PM.
If you have any winter clothing or soft foods you’d like to donate between now and January 23rd, please drop them off at the Directions Youth Services Center at 1134 Burrard Street. If you can’t make it down before then, no worries; donations are also welcome at the dinner itself.
For larger donations or for more information, give me a shout and I’d be happy to put you in touch with the right people.
There’s no Vancouver Tweetup Heatup this year, so this is your best chance to make a difference in the depths of winter.

Thanks so much for the post, Lorraine!
Corinna, if you’d like to come by, we’d love to have you (and anyone else who’d like to help) down at the dinner. Just let me know!

Yes, it’s bloody freezing out there lately. Glad it’s not as bad as last year!
I have a snotload of wool sweaters that I love but that are too small for me since I got fat. I’ll see if I can haul a bag over for tomorrow. Better someone use them than the moths get them.
