Met the woman behind this event yesterday at a Tweetup. Pretty interesting; art for a good cause, and the artists get paid (for once!)

  1. Vancouver Timeraiser 2009 Call to Artists | Closing June 10, 2009 |

    Call Requirements:

    1. Artist Statement
    2. Artist Bio
    3. Artist CV
    4. Artwork Submissions

Description: Submit your art to a call that pays in more ways than one.

The Timeraiser is a silent art auction with a twist. People bid volunteer hours, not money, in exchange for ownership of original pieces of art from emerging and mid-career Canadian artists. The Timeraiser is a ‘win-win’ for everyone:

    1. Artists receive payment for their work (see below for details), in addition to valuable exposure and promotion. Interested artists can submit up to 5 works for review.
    2. Volunteer Agencies receive donated volunteer hours from skilled volunteers in their twenties and thirties.
    3. Participants receive high-quality volunteer opportunities and a chance to win selected works from this call to artists.

Over the past five years, the Timeraiser has paid $204,000 to over 300 artists, and has raised over 38,000 volunteer hours. The average bid was 150 hours of volunteer time per piece. More information about Framework and the Timeraiser can be found at http://www.timeraiser.ca.
