EXPERIENCE
Starting at 9PM PST on the night of March 6, 2009, the Great Northern Way Campus in Vancouver will be connected live to SAT in Montreal via fibre optic cable and mobile camera operators streaming live footage to in-house projection screens at both locations. With VJs mixing new and archival footage, the two cities will trace their common theme to a stunning soundtrack from Akufen and Deepchild.
Produced and presented in-part by W2 Community Media Arts Society, the technology will involve the audience by allowing them to contribute live user-generated content to the visuals. The opportunity for live interaction between two cities across the country sets TechForms apart from the other three nights of the Midforms Festival, and from any other club night found in either city. This groundbreaking event will find VJs, DJs and their audiences intermixing and collaborating for one night.
Your ticket will also gain you access to 11,000 sq. Ft. of Transdisciplinary New Media Art Installations and interactive exhibits including the Canadian splinter of the Graffiti Research Lab.
MUSIC
AKUFEN (Can) – Musique Risquée – Montreal’s Marc Leclair has been a front-runner in the global electronica community since 1999. With productions ranging from experimental techno to microhouse, Akufen continues to push boundaries and explore his own versatility. For his last studio release, Akufen received critical acclaim as the master behind the 17th Fabric Mix. Never one to shy from experimentation, Akufen throws down unexpected tracks and keeps the audience moving with his upbeat sound.
DEEPCHILD (Aus) – Freerange, OM – Deephouse/minimal-tech DJ/Producer Rick Bull has toured with legends like Richie Hawtin, Green Velvet, M.A.N.D.Y., and has remixed tracks for Booka Shade and more. Deepchild has established himself as a major contender internationally, touring Sydney, London, Cologne, and Berlin just late last year. Vancouver will witness Deepchild’s expertise first-hand when he brings his bouncy minimal beats to TechForms ’09.
