the walkability test

walk don’t walkWalk Score is an interesting online service that rates your neighborhood by walkability: things like proximity to cafes and parks, presence of sidewalks (why do they even allow developers to build without sidewalks?) and safety features like street lights.

You can check out the neighborhood around your home (mine rates 49 out of 100; guess they’ve never seen Pigeon Park close up on a Wednesday) or plug in potential walking routes and see how they stack up before you truck all the way across town only to realize there are no bathrooms.
