EatDrinkTweet

Yes, I’m a conference junkie, but at least I’m addicted to speaking at them rather than paying to attend. And once again, Allison Markin the Social Media Queen of the Okanagan has invited me to speak at Eat.Drink.Tweet, a social media conference dedicated to food, wine, tourism, and of course, social media.

As you might expect, the swag bags are to die for, and so are the dinners. The workshops, as you can see from the program, also kick ass. This year’s conference is bigger than last year’s, stretching over three days, with the Friday being a full-day blogging bootcamp featuring WordPress for Beginners in the morning and other blogging workshops, case studies, and a blogger panel in the afternoon. Then a decadent dinner. Oh, and lunch is sponsored by Cannery Brewing, so you can decompress from the vertiginous learning curve before heading back to cram more know-how into your overloaded synapses.

Register on Eventbrite and don’t leave it till the last minute; this will probably sell out.

Register now for Eat.Drink.Tweet. – social media with a culinary twist — and be prepared to learn about the latest in social media and digital marketing while enjoying fine food and wine. No rubber chicken dinners at this conference, which brings together thought leaders and experts in the latest social media tools and networks, alongside world-class chefs, brewers and wineries preparing gourmet meals and hosting live Twitter wine tastings as part of your experience.

The first Eat.Drink.Tweet. was a sellout and a trending topic in Canada on Twitter. Don’t miss out! Check out the list of topics and presenters.

Coming from out of town? Stay at the Penticton Ramada, ask for the Eat.Drink.Tweet. group rate (quote #4896). Call 1-800-665-4966.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

marketers in the hospitality sector — wineries, restaurants, attractions, accommodations

tourism operators and stakeholders

event managers and planners

small-to-medium sized business-owners

anyone wishing to increase their social media savvy and network online and “IRL” — in real life — with fellow marketers, sharing a glass of wine while exchanging QR codes and Twitter handles

This job is in-person, in New York, and yes, it’s probably best if you know how to wrangle a photocopier and a coffee machine.

Spa Week Daily is now hiring a brand new part time blogger/social media intern. Please pass this along to anyone you think would be a great addition to the Spa Week team—someone whose stories you’d love to read here on Spa Week Daily.

The position is paid, hourly. The Spa Week headquarters are in Union Square, New York City. You MUST be able to work at least 24 hours per week, IN office. This is a position that will be part-time to start, with the potential to turn into a full time, salaried position. We are a very small department in a relatively small company, both of which are expanding rapidly, so we are really looking for someone who is excited at the opportunity to help us grow, and ultimately grow with us.

Qualifications:

You are a college graduate.
You are highly organized and detail-oriented.
You are a fast and witty writer with experience in blogging and social media.
You tweet because it’s fun, you might have your own blog, and you are familiar with how to work various social sites that generate web traffic.
You love reading blogs and being the first to share news.
You have an interest in, and general knowledge of, spa, beauty, health, travel, bridal, fashion and fitness topics.
You have a minor crush on Excel spreadsheets.
You are a multi-tasker and thrive in an environment where you are juggling many projects at once.
You are creative, and you are the type of person who’s always coming up with new ideas and wants them heard.
You would enjoy covering local events and you would feel comfortable interviewing estheticians and celebrities alike.
You are able to take direction and execute projects from beginning to end.
Video editing and design skills a plus.
You have good follow-up and follow-through.
You are both a self-starter and a team player.
You happen to love a good massage.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Daily blogging – multiple posts per day, both assigned and creative, under all the various Spa Week Daily topics.
Research, fact-checking, interviewing, reporting.
Online PR – connecting with bloggers and editors to build brand buzz.
Assisting in Community Management on various social networks, especially Twitter.
Managing and updating media lists.
Managing and updating press books and all clippings.
Keeping schedules and booking appointments.
Assisting in all aspects of the social media department, from Twitter parties to real parties.
Administrative assistance to the department where needed.

If this description sounds like you or someone you know, please email resume, a brief email cover letter, links to 3 relevant writing samples, and links to your Twitter, blog, or any other social communities you manage, to me at: michelle at spaweekmedia dot com.

Alanna Fero

I don’t pimp out too many workshops here, other than my own (and my new one with Mike Vardy, coming soon in February!). Exceptions are worth making, however, for a few of my friends who are also my own guides: Linda Naiman being one, and Alanna Fero being another.

When I took a job after years of self-employment, moving 3/4 of the way to the North Pole to take it, only to be laid off three weeks later, it was Alanna’s book Love Made Visible: Values-Driven Approaches to Work/Lifethat I read to get back on my feet again. And it helps, believe me.

Alanna has a workshop coming up, so I thought I’d pass along the info and the plug, because she’s eminently plug-worthy. Which is more complimentary than it sounds, I swear.

You see why I’m not in PR?

Alanna Fero 2012 Workshop

Here’s the deets:

SELF-CREATION 2012: AWARENESS IN ACTION

Dialogue | Guided Meditation | Processing & Integration | Action Planning

Please join me for an intimate 3-hour visioning and strategy workshop which will call in spiritual guidance to clarify your authentic path and then work on practical strategies to both integrate your vision into your life today and take steps to manifest your ideal future.

I’m offering 3 separate dates and post-Christmas-friendly pricing to be as accessible as possible, as well as limiting attendance to just 10 participants to keep it cozy and have lots of time for each person.

BONUS! The first 5 people registered will also receive a one-hour in-person coaching strategy session to take their 2012 vision to the next level.

Choose ONE of these dates:

Tues Jan 17, 6:00-9:00pm – or – Wed Jan 18, 7:00-10:00pm – or – Sat Jan 21, 9:00am-noon

Each Visioning Circle Workshop is limited to 10 participants to ensure personalized attention, and you’ll love meeting and learning from your fellow explorers in the group. Your participation also includes detailed email feedback on your newly drafted 2012 plan the week following your 3-hour visioning workshop, an incredible value.

And to register, for one ticket, click here.
